With millennials moving from city to city for either work, gaining experience or for their relationships, makes it unpractical to own rather large furniture pieces. Why do we still need to own these products? Is there a way to make furniture more contemporary and timeless at the same time? I concluded that a more temporary way of owning furniture would solve this problem.
‘Platform’ is a service that offers furniture for a certain period of time and makes owning furniture more accessible for temporary home owners and companies. It gives users the opportunity to rent and use specific furniture pieces when needed and easily return them when moving again.
‘Platform’ offers furniture that exist out of flat-pack, sustainable and easy to assemble and disassemble parts. The developed connection can be applied to a range of products and makes it easy and fun for the user to assemble the products without any tools.
The current furniture pieces are the essential pieces for a simple one person room; A stool, a table and a bed. These three products have the same assembly method with the ingenious connection that characterizes ‘Platform’. This creates a clean, sturdy and playful range of products with a homogeneous look.
The products can be ordered online and will be send to the customer from a central warehouse. When furniture is returned after a period of using, it is inspected and repaired if necessary and offered to the next temporary owner in need.
